DAY 1 - Copan Homestay
Welcome to Honduras, Mesoamerica's most alluring, unspoiled country with lush forests, fine beaches, magnificent coral gardens, and the legacy of the ancient Maya.

Most flights arrive in San Pedro's new airport early afternoon. Transfer to the colonial city of Copan where you'll meet your homestay director and your host families.

ABOUT YOUR HOST FAMILY:
Middle class host families are carefully selected and constantly monitored by the native resident director. Bring family photos and community mementos to share. Host families provide full room and board. Copan is a friendly, small community, which provides a truly unique setting for you to refine your Spanish skills as you interact with the Honduran culture.

DAY 2 - Conozca Copan/Copan Mayan Ruins
You'll quickly fall in love with the colonial city of Copan. Its cobblestone streets and friendly inhabitants will invite you to stroll around as you get acquainted with the crafts and hospitality of the Honduran people. Exploring Copan will open the door to the most advanced civilization of Mesoamerica. More mysteries have been unraveled in the Copan ruins than anywhere else. Visit the main acropolis, hieroglyphic stairway, and the great Plaza. Today we will visit the main plaza, the new tunnels discovery, and the Archaelogical Museum.


DAY 3 - Horseback Riding Tour
Today's tour offers majestic views of the town and the valley from the surrounding mountains. Visit Las Sepulturas, a residential complex where different social strata lived. Next, cross the Copan River to Los Sapos, reputed to be the medical center of the ancient Maya.

DAY 4 - Bird Park / Hot Springs
Today we are going to visit a brand new Bird Park called The Macaw Mount just 1 mile from the town of Copan. This park has some of the most beautiful tropical birds of the country. After this visit we are going to continue to the nearby natural hot water thermal spring, which flows in a fresh clear river, creating an idyllic setting. Box lunch will be provided.

DAY 5 - Student Interaction
Today we are going to meet with students like yourself from Honduras. This will be a great opportunity to interact, share experiences, and make new friends.
Note: The Mayatan School is open from September thru June.

DAY 6 - Arrival Playa Tela
Farewell to your host families. Visit a banana plantation as you transfer to the Caribbean Coast, highlighted by unspoiled white sand beaches and friendly natives. In the afternoon we are going to visit Lancetilla National Garden. This is the second largest tropical botanical garden in the world, the garden is full with tropical plants from around the world, many of them bare exotic fruits, which have attracted a multitude of tropical birds that have made the park their home. Huge bamboo forests add a mystical atmosphere. After the guided tour of the gardens, we will continue to the famous beaches of Tela, some of the best in Central America. Here you will have time to enjoy the ocean and the sun.

DAY 7 - Playa Tela
At leisure. Enjoy your full day in the Carribean! Students are invited to take an optional tour to Punta Sal National Park. This is a fantastic park accessible only by water. Once at Punta Sal, the tour includes stopping at several beaches. En route, you may be lucky and see many dolphins. You will cross the Penninsula by foot during a 25 minute hike over flat land to arrive at the very secluded cove of Puerto Escondido, reputed to have been a pirate hang out, where you will board the boat back.

DAY 8 - Return to United States
Transfer via the new road to San Pedro for your afternoon departure to the United States. Have your passport on your person.
